We invite makers, inventors, scientists, artisans, artists and other creative passionate and enthusiast people from the Triveneto Area and the neighbouring regions and countries (near and far) to to show and demonstrate their projects during the 2020 edition of Maker Faire Trieste. On Friday 4 and Saturday 5 September 2020, it will be held in the centre of Trieste (a change from the past location at the ICTP Campus in Miramare). The deadline to submit a Maker application to show your projects at the Maker Faire Trieste is 16 August.
This event is a great opportunity for everyone to grow and learn together through sharing experiences, and we need the help of all of you to make it a unique and memorable event. Maker Faire is the Greatest “Show and Tell” on Earth—a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness. It is an occasion for Makers to show what they are busy making and learning, and it’s a celebration of the Maker movement and spirit. We are calling for Makers to join us this September in Trieste.
Makers range from tech enthusiasts to crafters to homesteaders to scientists to garage tinkerers. They are the people who, after a long day of being “just normal people” will spend evenings and weekends in the basement, making something new, playing with new technologies or with antique craftsmanship techniques. Makers are –before any label or definition– just curious people, of all ages and backgrounds, who goes beyond talking and start doing, making.
You don’t have to have a project to come share: you can teach and share your techniques, your knowledge, or your experience. Innovative ideas and projects of educational or scientific value or made for developing countries are especially valued. If you aren’t ready yet to demonstrate your projects, you can join us as a volunteer or attendee. Find more information at the event website.
The event is part of the scientific festival of ESOF (Euro Science Open Forum, that elected Trieste to be “European City of Science” for the year 2020), taking place in Trieste this year. The main scientific conference is scheduled from 2 to 6 September, to take place mostly virtually, but also in person: the festival will take place in a distributed and diffused manner from July to December 2020. Some of the exhibits that have been accepted for the science festival will be hosted by the Maker Faire, bringing together makers, scientists, researchers, professional and amateur science communicators, and other science enthusiasts.
