ICTP is pleased to be hosting the Trieste Mini Maker Faire this weekend! This gathering of builders, designers, and inventors are all curious people from a variety of backgrounds who love to share what they can do. The Mini Maker Faire (TSMMF), put on by ICTP and the ICTP SciFabLab in collaboration with lots of partners, has taken over ICTP’s campus for one weekend a year for the past five years, helping expand horizons and demonstrate possibilities to kids of all ages.
You can find the full program for the weekend here, or come to ICTP's campus from 11:00 to 20:00 on Saturday, 28 July, and/or 9:00 to 16:00 on Sunday, 29 July.
This year will feature not only a large number of makers, but also science shows, drones, rockets, and robots, 3D printers, workshops, discussion, coding dojos, competitions, and building labs. Experts of all stripes and learners of all types, often the same people, will introduce the public to the world of makers.
In addition, new this year, ICTP will collaborate with the nearby Parco del Castello di Miramare to bring science talks to the castle, one of the most famous landmarks of Trieste. Visitors to the castle will be able to join in the Maker Faire even if they didn’t know it was happening, and talk attendees will gain free admittance to the castle. The Dirac Stairs connecting the park and ICTP’s campus will be opened for the Mini Maker Faire, and people will be able to move from the Maker Faire and the Castello and back.
The Trieste Mini Maker Faire is the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth—a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker Movement. It’s a place where people show what they are making, and share what they are learning.
