For Better Science Communication

Scientists, managers of cultural institutes, and other professionals looking to hone their science communication skills can apply for the 2015-2016 JCOM Masterclasses organised by the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA) Medialab in collaboration with ICTP, International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) and Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste.

The JCOM Masterclasses, a project if SISSA's Journal of Science Communication, offer short, intensive training courses that are aimed at helping participants to communicate science to diverse audiences using different media. Each course lasts 5 days and includes theoretical presentations, practical workshops and the presentation of international best practices. Participants will have the opportunity to present and discuss their own projects and gather feedback from speakers and colleagues coming from around the world. Speakers and tutors are leading professionals, researchers in science communication and international experts.

Scientists who are nationals of and working in developing countries may apply for a grant from ICTP to attend one of the courses. The grants will cover the registration, travel and accommodation expenses. Please note that a candidate may apply for a grant for only ONE  of the five courses currently offered by JCOM.
