Stage Set for the 2013 Supersymmetry Conference

Public lecture and plenary talks to feature leaders in the field
Stage Set for the 2013 Supersymmetry Conference

ICTP is set to host one of the most important conferences in the field of high energy physics: Supersymmetry and Unification of Fundamental Interactions-SUSY 2013. The conference, which has met annually for the past two decades, will run from 26 to 31 August 2013.

Over 300 physicists are expected to attend the conference this year. Among the prominent figures attending SUSY are Luciano Maiani (Università La Sapienza, Rome) and Sergio Bertolucci (CERN, Geneva); they will deliver a public talk, in Italian, titled "Una nuova fisica dal bosone di Higgs?". The lecture, which is scheduled for 29 August, 18:30 CET at Sala Tergeste, Hotel Savoia Excelsior, Trieste, is open to everyone, and will be moderated by Trieste science journalist Fabio Pagan.

Maiani (Chairman of the ICTP's Scientific Council and ICTP Dirac Medallist) and Bertolucci (Director for Research and Scientific Computing at CERN) will talk about the future of particle physics following the recent discovery at LHC [Large Hadron Collider] of the particle most likely to be the Higgs boson.

The SUSY 2013 conference will include plenary talks by leading figures in the field and parallel sessions on dark matter and cosmology, flavour (Standard Model and beyond), strings and AdS/CFT, Higgs physics, SUSY phenomenology, precision SUSY and SUSY models.

Prior to the conference, there will be a four-day, pre-SUSY school for students and young researchers, from 20 to 23 August 2013.
