ICTP seeks applications for a faculty position in quantitative
biology starting from 1 October 2013.
ICTP, based in Trieste, Italy, provides a top-class,
multi-disciplinary research environment in theoretical sciences,
with cutting-edge research, education and training, and it has been
a driving force behind global efforts for the advancement of
science in the developing world. We are now seeking to establish a
new research section in quantitative biology in order to respond to
the theoretical challenges arising from recent advances in
large-scale experiments in biology and neurosciences. The programme
will be open to, and actively seeking collaborations with, external
partners.
Areas of interest include: biological networks; genomics,
transcriptomics and proteomics; bioinformatics, machine learning
and statistical inference approaches to biological systems;
population genetics and evolution biology; and systems and
computational neuroscience.
The successful applicant will play a leading role in establishing
the new section, promoting cutting-edge research in quantitative
biology, and supervising graduate students. Applicants should have
an outstanding international reputation and a solid track record in
obtaining external funding.
The position will be at the P3 UNESCO level, with a starting
salary of $89200. Other benefits include family allowance, home
travel, education grant for dependent children, pension plan and
