Giovanni Villadoro, a theoretical physicist with a background in LHC physics, phenomenology, and physics beyond the Standard Model, has recently been appointed to ICTP's High Energy, Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics (HECAP) section as a research scientist. Villadoro was a research associate at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, Stanford University, prior to his appointment at ICTP.
He obtained his PhD from the University of Rome, "la Sapienza" and went on to pursue postdoctoral work at Harvard University followed by a fellowship at CERN.
"ICTP is one of the most cosmopolitan places to work at in Europe and that makes it an interesting environment," says Villadoro. He says he looks forward to collaborating with the scientists in the HECAP section and also build collaborations with researchers at the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA) in Trieste. In the coming year, Villadoro will also be taking up teaching at ICTP along with his research work.
