Homero Martinez, a Venezuelan scientist who completed ICTP's
Diploma Programe in 2010, has published a paper, based in part on
his thesis, in Physical Review Letters, issue 106.
The paper, titled 'Three Extra Mirror or Sequential Families: Case
for a Heavy Higgs Boson and Inert Doublet', explores the
possibility of extra fermion families and an extra Higgs
doublet.
Martinez, who is currently with CEA Saclay, France, studied high
energy physics while at ICTP. Under the supervision of Centre
scientist Goran Senjanovic, Martinez produced a thesis titled
'Constraints on the Number of Generations and the Higgs Sector in
the Standard Model'. His Physical Review Letters paper was
co-authored by Senjanovic as well as Alejandra Melfo (also a
Diploma Programme alumnus) of the Universidad de Los Andes,
Venezuela, and Fabrizio Nesti of the Università di Ferrara,
Italy.
